WCTE Komen Reach
One of this year’s Komen Reach grant recipients is the Tennessee Health Department. Through the BeSt (Breast Screening and Treatment) for Tennessee Women Project, funding has provided breast cancer screenings for 140 women from the 14 counties in the Upper Cumberland region. These are women age 50 and older who have never had a mammogram and are at greater risk. Additionally, 20 diagnostic follow ups will be provided.
Maybe you are fall into the category of women who have never had a mammogram. Perhaps you weren’t insured or maybe you were nervous about making your appointment. Regardless, breast cancer is easiest to treat when found early and mammograms are the way to achieve early detection. Below are ten common reasons women give for not getting mammograms, with explanations as to why these excuses don’t hold up.
